Core Community Committee

The Core Community Committee of the Illinois Prevention Research Center provides guidance on community engagement and training to the applied research project.

Community engagement is critical to this project, an evaluation of the Chicago Plays! initiative and the development of a community intervention for building park-focused coalitions. The committee communicates regularly via e-mail and conference calls and meets in person twice a year.

Key community partners, including Chicago Park District, the Chicago nonprofit Friends of the Parks, and local park coalition leaders serve on this committee with investigators from the study:

The committee is a sub-committee of the Illinois PRC’s Community Advisory Committee, which provides oversight on our center’s mission of community engagement in applied public health research.
